Jennifer's Story...
“I went to my neurosurgeon yesterday and after looking at my scans, MRI’s and being completely stumped by my increasing pain (I was diagnosed September 29th) they think I might have meningitis from coronavirus travelling to my brain. They are planning a spinal tap and another MRI, but I’m still at home in constant pain. It initially started in the right side of my body but now has progressed to both sides. I’m now waiting for my workman’s compensation before I can get my next MRI to check if it actually is meningitis. He did confirm that Covid has damaged my nerve endings but said that he has no real answer for me. I also have cognitive issues and memory loss, along with burning mouth and a ton of other symptoms. I’ve seen so many specialists and now they want to send me to an Infectious Disease specialist. The process is slow and every doctor I’ve seen can’t help me. Covid has completely wrecked my body and all that anyone can tell me is they don’t know enough about this virus to help. It really feels like I’ve been left here to just be in pain. It sucks. I’m a physical therapist assistant and I miss working. I haven’t worked since September 29th and I miss it every day. I just want to get better so I can go back to my life. I hardly ever leave my home anymore. I can’t drive due to my eyesight and it’s really hard when I do. If I do anything that exerts energy, I pay for it later by being in so much pain I can hardly walk. Anyway, I hope my story might help give people an idea about how bad this really is. My life is changed and I have no end in sight.”
